Main Entrance

The main entrance at Kirby Medical Center is the place you will enter when your visit is for an outpatient service or to see a patient, attend a community education class, stop by the gift shop or join us in the café. Here you will be greeted by a member of our guest services team.

Inpatient Suites

All patient suites are private and each, including the bariatric patient suite, has been designed specifically with our patient’s needs in mind. They are spacious, warm and feel more like home than a hospital. Each suite features a private bath, a family area complete with a pull-out bed for your comfort during an overnight stay and a caregiver’s work space.

Kirby Medical Center’s efficient design includes a central nursing station that allows nursing staff to care for and monitor patients both in the inpatient unit as well as the Emergency Department.

Emergency Department/Convenient Care

Kirby Medical Center’s Emergency Department and Convenient Care Center provide 5,261 additional square feet of space, more exam rooms to accommodate additional patient visits with better privacy, a new triage area and medical air evacuation on site. The design of these departments allow for private patient transport from the ED to other essential services like imaging and surgery, ensuring these patients are not exposed to public areas.

Laboratory

The Kirby Medical Center Laboratory is an accredited full-service facility providing round-the-clock coverage every day of the year. We are dedicated to providing rapid access to precise and accurate laboratory data that assists in the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of our patients. Our experienced and friendly staff consists of board-certified medical technologists, technicians and professional personnel, all of whom are highly trained and happy to be of service.

Diagnostic Imaging

Kirby Medical Center expands the diagnostic imaging services available to community members and providers. The women’s imaging suite offers digital mammography in a quiet, beautifully appointed space. Other diagnostic imaging services include:

Bone Densitometry (DEXA)
A NEW 64-Slice CT, the newer generation of computed tomography technology
Ultrasound
X-Ray

Mobile MRI/PET/CT

The MRI/PET/CT services are offered through a special alliance with OSF St. Francis, Peoria, Illinois. The unit is the same one that was used at Kirby Hospital; however, at Kirby Medical Center, its placement is under a protective canopy, which provides access directly through the Medical Center meaning patients never step outdoors.

Surgery

The Kirby Medical Center surgery department provides specialists with an exceptional space to perform more complex surgeries. Larger and spacious surgery suites with room for future growth, in addition to private surgery staging rooms, all meet today’s contemporary standards for uncompromising patient care and the ideal environment for our growing complement of surgery specialists.

Same Day Surgery and Sleep Center

Many surgeries performed today are done on an outpatient basis – in early and out before dinner time. The outpatient surgery department also includes a private special procedures suite for a variety of common procedures such as colonoscopies and endoscopies. Outpatient surgery staging suites also convert to modern night time sleep study rooms to help diagnose sleep disorders such as sleep apnea.

Dining, Healing Garden, Gift Shop

Kirby Medical Center is pleased to introduce the Apple a Day Café, where you are invited to dine with us for breakfast or lunch any day of the week or you can stop by to grab a quick snack. Should your visit with us include an inpatient stay, private in-room dining menus are provided and delicious, nutritious meals are made to order and delivered to your patient suite. Guest meals can also be provided for a nominal fee. When weather permits, guests can also dine in the outside patio area.

The Healing Garden offers patients and their guests a quiet place to reflect and be closer to nature’s wonders.

The gift shop is operated by the dedicated men and women serving on the Kirby Auxiliary. Proceeds from sales within the gift shop provide a tremendous benefit to furthering Kirby Medical Center’s mission to provide outstanding healthcare to families across Piatt County.

Rehabilitative Therapy Services

After illness or surgery, rehabilitative therapy is the way forward to better overall health. The rehabilitative services department provides a wide variety of high-end equipment and wonderful views of our healing garden.

Medical Records

Kirby Medical Center, like other healthcare facilities across the U.S, is making the important and necessary conversion to electronic medical records. Kirby Medical Center’s medical records division provides all physicians on the medical staff convenient access to patient records in a highly secure space.

Kirby Medical Group

This area is the new home to Kirby Medical Group – Monticello. With more exam rooms, a more spacious waiting area and a larger staff work area, patients who choose KMG as their family’s primary care providers will enjoy convenient access to diagnostic imaging, lab and other services without ever stepping out of the facility.

Historical Giving Wall

The Kirby organization originated from a gift, an act of kindness toward the people of Piatt County by John and Mary Kirby. The tradition of giving continued for the next 70 years with their daughter and son-in-law, along with many other community members. The names of the individuals and businesses displayed on the Historical Giving Wall represent a rich history of giving to Kirby Hospital on State Street. These donors provided the hospital with the necessary resources to deliver quality healthcare locally, just as the Kirby family envisioned so many years ago.

Campaign Donor Recognition

Throughout Kirby Medical Center, the names of those whom we’re honoring for their campaign leadership gifts specifically to benefit the construction of this new facility can be found on a special recognition wall, as do the names of those who are carrying on the spirit of philanthropy through sustained giving.
